It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Colonel Gail S. Halvorsen- the Berlin Candy Bomber.

Gail passed away peacefully February 16, 2022, at 8:32 pm MST at Utah Valley Hospital after a brief illness.

He was surrounded by most of his children.

At Gail’s request long before his passing he asked that in lieu of sending flowers that donations would be made to the following organizations as a memorial:

Berlin Airlift Historical Foundation

Gail S. Halvorsen Aviation Education Foundation

Primary Children’s Hospital of Salt Lake City

Your donation will be memorialized by the foundation of your choice, and your gift will help perpetuate the great work that these organizations perform. Funeral Details Viewing will be February 21 2022 6:00 – 9:00 pm at Nelson Family Mortuary 4780 N. Due to the high public interest in funeral services for Colonel Gail S. Halvorsen an overflow building has been arranged at 3511 N 180 East in Provo,

where the proceedings may be viewed remotely. Interment at Provo City Cemetery will follow the funeral services. Also, people may view the funeral on YouTube
